Random number generator

Draw whole numbers between a minimum and a maximum. The same seed repeats the same draw.

The answer

Each draw is a whole number from the minimum through the maximum, inclusive. The seed decides the sequence, so a shared link shows the same numbers again.

Result

Number

5

What do you want to do next?

How this works

The range includes both ends. A draw from 1 to 6 can be 1 or 6. Asking for several numbers allows repeats, because this is a draw with replacement.

The seed is hashed into the draws. It is not a secret and it is not a source of gambling entropy. Change the seed when you want a different sequence.

Practical steps

  1. 1

Set the lowest and highest whole numbers.

  2. 2

Set how many draws you need.

  3. 3

Keep the seed with the result if someone else should see the same numbers.

Examples

  • One number from 1 to 6

The result is a whole number in that range, and the same seed repeats it.

Common mistakes

  • ×

Using this as a lottery draw. The sequence is determined by a seed anyone can read.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same number appear twice?

Yes. Each draw is independent of the earlier ones in the list.

Are the ends included?
