Time zone converter

Convert a clock time from one time zone to another, using the daylight-saving rules for that date.

The answer

The time you type is the clock in the first zone, on that date. The result is the same moment in the second zone. Daylight-saving rules come from the time-zone data on this system.

The clock time in the first zone, as YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm.

Result

UTC

2026-01-15 17:00 UTC

UTC

2026-01-15 17:00 UTC

What do you want to do next?

How this works

Enter the wall time as YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm. The converter finds the UTC moment that shows that clock in the first zone, then formats that moment in the second zone.

A time that falls in a spring-forward gap, such as 02:30 on the morning the clocks skip an hour, is rejected. An ambiguous fall-back hour resolves to one of the two real moments and is labeled with the zone abbreviation.

Practical steps

  1. 1

Type the date and the clock time you were given.

  2. 2

Choose the zone that clock belongs to, then the zone you need.

  3. 3

Read both the converted clock and the UTC line if you are comparing more than two cities.

Examples

  • 15 January 2026, 12:00 in New York

17:00 UTC. New York is five hours behind UTC on that winter date.

Common mistakes

  • ×

Adding a fixed hour offset in summer and using the same offset in winter.

Frequently asked questions

Does this know every city?

No. The list is a set of common zones. Pick the zone that matches the city’s rules, not a city that is missing from the list.

Why was 2:30 in March rejected?

In US zones that observe daylight saving, that hour does not exist on the spring-forward morning.
