Salary to biweekly paycheck

Divide a yearly salary by 26 paychecks and set that amount next to one month of the same salary.

The answer

A biweekly paycheck is the annual salary divided by 26. One month of the same salary is the annual salary divided by 12. Two paychecks are not a month.

Gross pay for the year, before tax.

Result

$2,000.00

Biweekly paycheck

One month of this salary
$4,333.33
Two paychecks beside one month
$4,000.00

This is not financial, tax, or legal advice.

How this works

Divide the annual salary by 26 for one paycheck. Divide the same salary by 12 for one month. A $52,000 salary is $2,000 every two weeks and about $4,333.33 a month. Two of those paychecks are $4,000, which is $333.33 short of the month.

Most months contain two paychecks. Two months in a year contain three, because 26 paychecks do not split evenly into 12 months. This page uses gross pay. Withholding is a separate percent you enter on the paycheck page.

Examples

  • $52,000 a year

$2,000 each paycheck. About $4,333.33 in a month. Two paychecks are $4,000.

Common mistakes

  • ×

Dividing by 24 and calling that biweekly. Twenty-four checks is twice a month, which is a different schedule.

  • ×

Treating two paychecks as the money available for a monthly bill.

Frequently asked questions
